HISTORY: Global Citizens Open Innovation SDGs Challenge

Begun in UAE in the summer of 2019 under the United Nations Association UAE and funded by the Arab Youth Venture Foundation, the UAE Innovative Youth Solutions SDGs Challenge focused on SDG2, Zero Hunger and was supported by the UAE Prime Minister's Office and partnered with the UAE Ministry of State for Food Security.

By 2020, Covid had struck and as we moved the challenge online as well as into the virtual, international realm, the Global Citizens Innovative Solutions Challenge was born. As an open innovation contest, in 2023 we rightly named ourselves the Global Citizens Open Innovation SDGs Challenge! *We are not affiliated with the Global Citizen org. but LOVE their work on ending poverty. We aim to be a sustainable initiative until SDGs sunset in 2030 - and beyond!
